Emelia Harford has done some crazy mods on her Chevrolet Corvette Z06. The orange and white car is called Nemo by the fans of his build. But, this time, he had gone all out and put a nitrous kit in the ‘Vette.
Nitrous Corvette Z06 : Sub 9 seconds time of 1/4 mile
The run took place at Famoso Bakersfield Racecourse. Located in McFarland, California, Hartford took him there for some testing and tuning. This is not only the fast Corvette Z06 but also possibly the first Nitrous equipped one.
The goal is to beat the Corvette’s current world record of 9.98 seconds. In the first few rounds, Hartford made sure there were no glitches or check engine lights.
In the following laps, nitro was used, and the Corvette Z06 recorded a time of 9.98 seconds ET with a top speed of 141 mph. While it’s still slightly off the world record by a tenth of a second, there’s a chance the Corvette Z06 nitro could break it after a few more fine-tuning.
Corvette E-Ray: In the news
Meanwhile, series production of the much-anticipated 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray has yet to start. That said, the American automaker just completed an auction for its first retail unit. All proceeds from that amount will be donated. NASCAR team owner, Rick Hendrick, bid for the car at US$ 1.5 million, which is the highest. Hence, in the hammer down, the owner of Hendrick Motorsports managed to secure VIN no 001.
The E-Ray is the first Corvette to come with a hybrid powertrain. These include a naturally aspirated 6.2 liter V8 motor with electric motor. The total output of the system is 665 HP. Apart from that, the E-Ray will also boast an all-wheel-drive system. This feature is also a new addition to the Corvette brand. The American automaker claims a 0-60 mph time of 2.5 seconds.
