Surrey, UK/ Billund, Denmark, 27 February – As mclaren mark it 60 year anniversarysupercar maker has collaborated with LEGO Group to release the first dual pack LEGO Speed Champion featuring two of McLaren’s most iconic supercars: the McLaren F1LM And McLaren Solus GT.
Both LEGO creations pay homage to McLaren’s technical innovation and design language with authentic details from real-life cars, incl Papaya Orange F1 LM colors (below), central driver’s seat position and cooling ducts.
Born from Maya game world concept, The Solus GT (below) – also with its striking single-seat cockpit design and high-drag rear wing – is the perfect addition for any McLaren supercar enthusiast.
That 581 pieces the set also features two LEGO minifigure drivers in his and hers McLaren ‘race suit’ (below).
Sixty years ago, a New Zealand-born racing driver, engineer and visionary Bruce McLaren formed a racing team in England which remains one of the most successful names in the world in motorsport. McLaren is the only team to have won the ‘Triple Crown of Motorsport’ with race wins at the Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours. In the 1960s, Bruce himself launched the M6GT, McLaren’s first supercar.
The LEGO and McLaren groups are joining forces for the first time 2015, and since then it has been made six LEGO Speed Champions McLaren cars and two LEGO Technic McLaren models. To celebrate McLaren’s 60th milestone and the launch of the first double pack together, designers from LEGO and McLaren recently gathered at LEGO HQ in Billund, Denmark. You can watch the video here:
