SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. introduces a new generation of iconic sports sedans with bold styling, modern finishes and intuitive technology

Manila, Philippines, February 27 – With its elegant and sporty design coupled with agile handling, the BMW 3 Series has provided a reference point for driving pleasure in the premium compact segment from day one. And it also represents the core of the BMW brand. The latest edition of the sports sedan, which has enjoyed great success for over 45 years, is now available in the Philippines as BMW 318i Sport.

A design refresh, an extensively modernized premium ambiance and clear advances in digitisation, control, operation and equipment prepare the new edition of the BMW 3 Series to write another chapter in the success story of the worldwide model range.

Newly designed cockpit with BMW Curved Display and iDrive with Operating System 8

A new interpretation of the brand’s signature driver focus is realized by the standard-compliant BMW Curved Display, first seen on the BMW iX. Here, the BMW Live Cockpit Plus (above) which includes a 12.3-inch information display behind the wheel and a control display with a 14.9-inch diagonal screen are combined into one digital, high-resolution unit. This cutting-edge cockpit design has progressive digitization at its heart and allows the number of buttons and controls to be significantly reduced in favor of touch and voice control. This also allows the driver and passengers to maximize the additional capabilities of several features such as the BMW Intelligent Voice Assistant.

An automatic climate control system with three-zone adjustment is installed as standard in the new BMW 3 Series Sedan. The climate function is operated by voice or touch commands via the control display.

Other new additions to the standard specification include auto-dimming mirrors, an additional storage package and Park Distance Control (PDC) with front and rear sensors. The new BMW 318i Sport is also equipped with the BMW Maps navigation system as standard.

Newly designed BMW kidney headlights and grille

With its clear surface structure, dynamic lines and large air intakes, the front apron adds even greater emphasis to the sporty look of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan. The redesigned headlamps and kidney grille (above) also give the car a strong visual presence. The standard full-LED headlamps are now much slimmer compared to the previous generation, with clear contours and the daytime driving lights are arranged in an inverted L shape (below) to create a harmonious look.

Slightly modified contours and new double bars give the BMW kidney grille a more powerful appearance. The glossy black air intake placed under the kidney grille cools the braking system and adds a subtle touch.

New rear apron and stylish dynamism with M exterior elements

A higher proportion of body-colored painted surfaces and a clean design make the rear apron of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan look very sophisticated. The horizontal stripes, slim light units and widened rear wheel arches accentuate the wide and muscular posture of the rear. The exhaust system exhaust pipe finisher is 100 millimeters in diameter.

The visual quality of the new BMW 3 Series is further enhanced in the 318i Sport. Standard specification includes M exterior features such as the M aerodynamics package, M 18-inch light-alloy wheels and the Shadowline M High-gloss trim.

Handling defines the class

Highly efficient internal combustion engine with BMW Twin Power Turbo technology strikes an excellent balance between driving pleasure and fuel economy. The new BMW 318i Sport includes a four-cylinder petrol unit with an exhaust manifold integrated into the cylinder head and an improved turbocharger system to optimize power delivery.

With output from 156 hp and torque from 250Nm, it produces the best power for city roads and scenic roads outside the metro. Engine power is channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic.

A number of automated driving and parking systems are in place to take the comfort and safety of the new BMW 3 Series to a new level. Standard equipment includes Cruise Control with brake function, Manual Speed Limit Assist and Parking Assistant with Reversing Assist Camera. Additionally, Reversing Assistant performs the necessary steering inputs to move the car backwards for up to 50 meters along the same line as it moved forward, adding a further layer of assistance when exiting tight parking spaces.
