Gavin McAllister, managing director of Sandown Motors has been appointed head of the Mercedes-Benz Franchise Council in the UK.
Gary Savage, CEO and Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz UK Limited, said: “Sandown Group is a strong player in our network and Gavin is highly regarded by members of the Franchise Board, the wider Mercedes-Benz network and the team at Milton. Keynes. I look forward to working more closely with Gavin and the Franchise Council given the opportunities and challenges we face in today’s market: collaboration with our agents and partners remains as important as ever.”
David Williams, who has been a member of the Mercedes-Benz Franchise Board for more than 20 years, has decided to retire after 35 years in the business.
Savage added: “I have worked closely with David since I joined the business in 2010. He has always challenged and strongly supported our business initiatives, contributing to our sales growth which peaked in 2017 at 180,970 vehicles. Recently, the Franchise Board, led by David, played an integral role as we formulated our plan to move from a distribution contract to an agency contract. I am confident that without David’s insight, guidance, and energy, we would not have successfully run the agency within the planned timeframe. I doubt I will ever be able to find the words to thank David for his contributions to the Franchise Council and to our business during the 13 years I was managing director. I will greatly miss my daily conversations with David and wish him well as he enjoys his retirement.”
