The Pininfarina Battista has become the fastest accelerating production car over a quarter mile.
Battista clocked the quarter mile in 8.55 seconds, beating the record set by Rimac Nevera by 0.03 seconds. It reached the half-mile mark in 13.38 seconds and reached a top speed of 222 mph.
Battista set a record on the NATRAX high speed test track in India. Earlier this month, an electric hypercar was also showcased at the Hyderabad E-Prix.
Pininfarina, which is now owned by Mahindra & Mahindra India, unveiled its first electric hypercar at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It is powered by four electric motors producing 1874 hp and 1694 lb-ft of torque. The company claims it can accelerate from 0-62 mph in less than 2 seconds. The 120 kWh battery is said to offer a range of 311 miles.
Battista’s main rivals include Rimac Nevera and Lotus Evija. The former also holds the record for the fastest production EV at 256 mph. It also packs four electric motors that produce 1914 horsepower and 1696 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, Evija’s four electric motors produce 1973 hp and 1254 lb-ft of torque.
