Yokohama, Japan, February 8 – Nissan Formula E Team set to tackle Round 4 of The 2022/23 ABB FIA Formula E World Championshipwith the series traveling to India for the first of four new spots at Season 9.
Follow Sacha Fenestraz‘s (over) point finish in Round 3, neither he nor his teammates Norman NATO (below) looks to build on the progress made in Diriyah, with the team aiming for a double points finish.
The new track presents a special challenge for teams and drivers, without relying on previous data or experience. That 2.83 kilometers layout features flat corners and heavy braking zones, with excellent overtaking opportunities in Turns 1 and 3. The first sector is located on the edge Husayn Sagar lake, with its gigantic vistas Buddha the statue acts as a beautiful backdrop for the races.
Drivers and teams will also be challenged by the hot and humid weather, that is gen3 the car is set to experience these conditions for the first time this weekend.
“It’s always more difficult when we visit a new circuit,” said Thomas Volp, managing director, Nissan Formula E Team. “There are a lot of unknowns, so we’ve been working hard on the simulator to know what to expect when we arrive. It’s all about finding the small advantages that can help us come race day. Based on Mexico and Diriyah, we know we have a good car and we can see where we need to improve. It’s clear that qualifying is tight so we’ll be aiming for strong lap times to give us more chances to score points with both cars. Our race pace in Diriyah gives us confidence – we know what we are capable of, but we have to take our performance to the next level.”
Qualification in Hyderabad Road Circuit starts at 10:40 IST (UTC +5:30), with the race taking place at 15:00 IST on Saturday, 11 February. Find out how to watch the event here.
Sacha Fenestraz: “I am very excited to go to Hyderabad. Neither rider had raced here before so it leveled things up a bit for me as a novice. I’m improving and learning in every race, getting used to energy management and tires. I’m happy with the points in Diriyah, the signs have been good since the start of the season so we hope to keep going and find the consistency needed to be successful in this championship. We’ve spent hours getting ready for the race, getting used to the track in the simulator, so hopefully we can start running.
Norman NATO: “It’s always fun to go somewhere new and discover new tracks, so I’m really looking forward to the weekend. We made a lot of progress in Diriyah, Sacha did a great job to score our first point of the season and now we need to build on that to fight on the front of the pitch. It’s been very tight between the teams this year but we know where we have to improve. It’s going to be hot and humid, so it’ll be interesting to see how that affects the Gen3 cars. Physically it will be difficult because of the conditions, but we know what our target is and it’s up to us to go there and achieve it.”
