The Nigel Mansell Collection has parted ways with the Hyundai franchise and Mitsubishi’s after-sales business in Jersey.
The company said Mitsubishi’s exit was due to the departure of sales of the Japanese brand in Europe. He added that the loss of business had a direct impact on Hyundai’s business.
Its website says: The Mansell Collection Auto Parts Sales, Service and Parts Department is now closed.
“This happened due to Mitsubishi’s departure from Europe and the two years it spent battling Covid-19 and the subsequent loss of sales. Unfortunately, the loss of the brand has an impact on our second car brand, Hyundai.
“We certainly wish Mitsubishi and Hyundai all the best for the future with their new partner in Jersey, and we thank the Department of Automobiles for all their hard work over the years.
But when the car business closed, the motorcycle business was set to expand.
“We are very pleased to be able to further develop The Mansell Collection on two wheels, with motorcycle sales, service, apparel and various franchises.
“We will expand and improve everything from motorcycle servicing to bringing new brands to The Collection, alongside BMW Motorrad, Triumph Motorcycles, Peugeot, MV Agusta, Moto Morini, Bluroc and Mash.”
Nigel Mansell founded the Mitsubishi business in 2014. His son Leo manages the business. Mansell is the chairman of The Mansell Collection dealership which opened in St Helier in 2013.
In 2016 the company opened a new Mitsubishi showroom and four-room workshop in Jersey. The opening was attended by 100 guests who took the opportunity to tour the Nigel Mansell Museum, which displays trophies and race-winning cars.
