The Department of Transportation has announced that the 4-1-1 MOT Consultation has been extended, with the closing date set to 22 March 2023.

On this, Sue Robinson, chief executive of the National Association of Franchise Dealers (NFDA), said: “The NFDA is pleased that its efforts to extend the consultation period, through discussions with DVSA and writing direct letters to DfT officials have been successful.

“As of now, the NFDA has surveyed its members, been in regular communication with relevant industry contacts and is now in the process of finalizing our position on behalf of the industry.

“In addition, the extension of the consultation period allows NFDA more time to discuss with our members and European partners to gain insight and knowledge regarding their MOT testing policy, cross-reference this with us and build on our evidence against this proposed change. from the government.

“If you haven’t already, please sign an industry-backed petition, endorsed by the likes of the Independent Garage Association (IGA), National Franchise Dealers Association (NFDA), Garage Equipment Association (GEA), Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA) and National Tire Distributors Association (NTDA).”
