Motorpoint aims to help businesses make the transition to electric vehicles by holding an event in Maidstone, Kent.

The supermarket has teamed up with Maidstone Borough Council to host an event aimed at supporting small businesses across Kent as they seek to make the transition to electric vehicles.

The Driving Forward Sustainably event took place at the Maidstone Motorpoint store at Parkwood Industrial Estate, Bircholt Road, ME15 9XY on 21 February.

The event will outline how businesses in the South and East can access grants of up to £10,000 to spend on electric vehicles.

This funding, provided through LoCASE (Low Carbon Across the South and East) can be used by qualifying businesses to buy nearly new electric vehicles.

Speakers will include Dean Walker, Stock & Buying Director at Motorpoint, Board Member Derek Mortimer, Mayor Maidstone and Kathleen Browning of the accounting firm Azets who will provide guidance on what taking grants means for a company’s finances and how to account for them as part of their business planning.

Mark Bidewell, managing director of Bison Print will also share his experience using LoCASE grants to help fund his organization’s successful transition to EV.

Chris Goodison, Motorpoint Regional Sales Director said: “As a region, we are very fortunate to have access to LoCASE funding. Few people know that their business can access funds of up to £10,000 for the commercial costs of a nearly new electric car or van.

“We hope this event will change that and ensure that eligible businesses can take this opportunity to apply for grants.

“During the event, speakers will explain the benefits to business owners of switching to EVs as well as detailing how businesses can apply to take advantage of this fantastic grant in the limited time they have left.”

Then there will be Q&A and opportunities to network. Soft drinks will be available and there is plenty of parking on site.
