We took the all-electric MG ZS EV and spent time with a young wildlife photographer and got his perspective as an EV owner.

We got the chance to spend time with one of the ZS EV owners, who is a businessman all week but dives into his hobby of wildlife photography over the weekends. Gaurav Kalbhor, a young MG ZS EV owner, recently switched from internal combustion engine cars to all-electric cars. We decided to join in on a cold winter morning in suburban Pune as he was in his element i.e. nature.
Gaurav describes his special field of wildlife photography. The practice of photographing animals in their natural habitat is known as wildlife photography. Wild animal photography demands a lot of patience and talent. Photographers sometimes face extreme weather to get the perfect animal shot. Wildlife photographers capture images of many creatures. They photograph insects, reptiles, fish, mammals and many other types of fauna.
Let’s take a look at the design of this EV before understanding why Gaurav chose it. The ZS EV has a futuristic look thanks to its dynamic lines, distinctive style and wide SUV posture. During our morning interaction with Gaurav, he showed us how he utilized the incredible ZS EV space. He keeps all of his camera equipment, including his massive zoom lens, safely tucked away in the trunk of the car.
With the luxurious interior of the MG ZS EV and new availability in the Dual Tone Iconic Ivory Interior motif, you can enjoy comfort in every ride. 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, fully digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, cruise control, driving modes, electric parking brake, air cleaner, rear ac vents, six-way adjustable driver’s seat electrically tuned, and wireless charging are all included in the new MG ZS EV.
Another feature that convinced our young photographers to buy the ZS EV is the use of i-SMART technology which integrates hardware, software, services and applications, which enhances the ease and smoothness of driving. This EV represents a new way of practical connected driving; it starts with the all-new 75-plus ZS EV connected car capabilities.
Safety is the main strong point for this electric vehicle. Features include the Rear Drive Assist function, which monitors the environment around the car, any undetected blind areas to eliminate and reversing cameras, and sensors in the ORVM. After identifying a potential hazard, such as a car that is already in the blind zone, apply the brakes to a car that is approaching quickly to prevent a collision, lane or reverse, or a car coming from behind, the system notifies the driver via visual and audio noise signals. All of this, along with some autonomous driving features and six SRS airbags will keep you as safe as possible while driving.
Talking about capabilities, Gaurav tells us how he has plans to take the ZS EV deep into the heart of our national forest because this car is very quiet, being an EV, zero emissions. He prefers to bring this electric SUV to get close to the animals he has to photograph.
Performance is there when you need it in this electric car. The permanent magnet synchronous motor in the 2022 MG ZS EV, which develops 130 kW (177 hp) and 280 Nm, is powered by a new 50.3 kWh battery. The advantages of this larger battery include great performance and a very long range. The largest battery on the market, together with certifications for ASIL-D, IP69K Safety and UL2580, makes it more durable in various climatic conditions in India. It can cover a distance of 461 km with one battery. All this results in a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, with a top speed of 175 km/h. Gaurav told us that the thrilling performance of the car is also what made him believe in electric car movement.
Handling is excellent as it has a gentle setting and good springiness to avoid a rough ride, yet absorbs shock. Since the battery is on the floor, the overall handling of the car is better and it feels more stable as it stays firmly planted on the road.
For Gaurav, the MG ZS EV has become the complete package as it is a premium SUV to handle his daily business activities and when he has to go to the forest, this EV has a wide range to take him to and from home. with zero emissions to damage the environment.
