The Ineos is passing diesel with an electric off-road SUV on the road. Nissan is showing China a different twist on electric SUVs. And in this day of SUV-focused news, we’re seeing a bigger battery carried over to Mercedes’ latest plug-in hybrid SUV. This and much more, here at Green Car Reports.

In a review, we found the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450e plug-in hybrid managed to go about 40 miles without starting the petrol engine. That’s thanks to the larger 23.3-kwh battery pack. It’s also one of the few plug-in hybrids that can be charged quickly—in about 10 minutes.

British company Ineos Automotive announced that in 2026 it will launch the rugged Ineos electric SUV, built by Magna in Austria, with “world-class off-road capability. The Magna factory already builds the Jaguar I-Pace and Fisker Ocean.

And at the Shanghai Auto Show on Monday, Nissan revealed the Arizona electric SUV concept. Designed by a Chinese team, it is built on the same global platform as Ariya but aims to encapsulate technologies that will appeal to that market.
