MAHLE Motorsport announces the Porsche 2023 Application Guide. The guide offers a comprehensive list of all Porsche specific piston kits and applications offered, and features easy-to-use sections of the Water-Cooled and Air-Cooled lists divided by engine size and application, the company said.
MAHLE adds that the Porsche machined forged pistons have lightweight slipper skirts to reduce friction and are double coated with Phosphate and MAHLE’s GRAFAL skirt layers to reduce drag, wear and noise. The piston kit includes a set of performance rings made from a durable material designed to provide consistent contact with the cylinder resulting in improved sealing and oil control.
The cylinders included in the air cooled kit are machined to OEM tolerances and designed for increased performance and longevity. Some applications are available as a slip-in or machine-in design. The slip-in cylinder is simply a replacement for the larger internal bore, according to MAHLE Motorsport. In-engine cylinders require the engine casing to be machined with a larger bore diameter to accept the larger spigot diameter. Larger spigot diameters are preferred for extreme applications such as in turbo engines or highly boosted competition applications. This guide also includes final assembly technology tips and ring gap recommendations.
