Ken Block’s widow will be competing in the 2023 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) this June in honor of her late husband.
Lucy Block announced last week that she will be entering the hill climb, which is scheduled for June 25, driving the Sierra Echo EV in Unlimited Class. This would be his first time competing at Pikes Peak.

“Driving the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb gives us a way to take Ken’s passion forward and do something he himself wants to do,” said Lucy Block in a statement.
Ken Block was killed in a snowmobile accident in January, after which his family confirmed plans to continue racing. Lucy and daughter Lia Block have been competing in rallying for the last few months, and Lia will be driving her father’s Pikes Peak Porsche 911 “Hoonipigasus” race car up hill climbs this year, in an indefinite “honor run.

The single-seat Sierra Echo EV racer that Lucy Block will be driving is manufactured by Sierra Cars, with an electric powertrain from specialist company Hypercraft. The 1,350 pound tubular-steel-chassis vehicle develops 300 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, enabling a top speed of 120 mph. Electricity is supplied by a trio of 18.6-kwh battery modules.
The Block family, Sierra Cars and Hypercraft also plan to sell seven Block Edition versions of the race car, all signed by the family and featuring custom graphics. A portion of sales will go to the 43 Institute, a nonprofit formed by the Block family with the stated goal of “creating a pathway of opportunity for those who are highly driven who may not have the right support systems for growth and success.” The goal is to raise $43,000 for the organization.
