Jay Leno samples Velocity Restorations’ Ford F-250 restomod

As new cars and trucks continue to become more complex and technology-intensive, the simple, almost minimalist nature of classic vehicles is a quality that many buyers seek — and are willing to spend big money for.

Velocity Restorations of Pensacola, Florida, is a company capitalizing on the growing demand for classic vehicles that still offer modern comfort, performance, and reliability.

The company has spent the last decade building restomod versions of the original Ford Bronco, and recently began offering a restomod version of the fifth-generation Ford F-Series F-250 pickup. Jay Leno has featured the truck in the latest episode of his Jay Leno’s Garage series.

Under the hood is a modern 5.0-liter Ford V-8 engine that Velocity Restorations brought with it with minimal modifications. The original chassis was also retained, although the suspension and brakes were upgraded with modern items. The latter includes six-piston calipers up front and 14-inch rotors.

What’s perhaps most impressive about Velocity Restorations vehicles is the kind of modern-meets-past approach. Despite being thoroughly updated, the vehicle looks like it could have left the factory in the same condition. This is aided by the application of modern materials which allow the vehicle to retain its classic feel. This approach results in a great-looking ride that doesn’t feel too retro at all.

Another attraction of Velocity Restorations is the company’s promise to complete construction in just 14 weeks. The current price for the restomod F-250 is $285,000 (the version shown has been selected to be $325,000). Anyone looking for one of the Bronco’s restomods needs at least $268,000. This price includes the cost of the donor vehicle.
