Comedian and television personality Jay Leno revealed that he suffered multiple injuries in a motorcycle crash in mid-January.

The accident occurred after Leno was taken to hospital last November after a fire broke out in the car he was working on, burning part of his face.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal published on Thursday, Leno said that he broke his collarbone and two ribs and fractured both kneecaps after he was thrown from his motorcycle in a rather freak accident.

Leno said he was driving a 1940s Indian car when he smelled gas. He then turned onto a side street and tried to cross the parking lot which was suspended by cables. Without any warning like a flag hanging above it, Leno said he didn’t see the wire until it was too late. He immediately rode on it and was thrown to the ground. He also said the motorcycle kept going after he was thrown.

Leno said he previously did not mention the motorcycle crash due to the large amount of coverage caused by previous fire injuries.

“You know, once it’s on fire, you get that one for free,” Leno said in his interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal. “After that, you’re Harrison Ford, crashing a plane. You just want to keep your head down.”

The fire injury was caused when Leno was sprayed with fuel while working on the 1907 White Steam Car in his garage. The pilot light caused a fire and Leno suffered third degree burns as a result.

Despite the latest injury, the 72-year-old said he was “fine” and would be “working this weekend”.
