All-wheel-drive sports cars with the ability to go anywhere have been gaining popularity in recent times. Porsche made its debut with the 911 Dakar, which was followed by the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato.

Now, rumor has it that Ford could evaluate a similar concept based on the Mustang. Reports suggest that a Ford Mustang Raptor may be in the cards.

It is said that the Mustang Raptor will likely share its underpinnings with the upcoming Mustang S650. It will be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 packing 500 hp, which will be sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled center differential.

Not that. Media reports also suggest that a more powerful version called the Mustang Raptor R with a 700 hp supercharged 5.2-liter V8 could also be a reality.

If Ford goes ahead with its plans to build an all-wheel drive version of the Mustang, it could hit showrooms sometime in 2026.

There appears to be a market for boosted sports cars, as demonstrated by Porsche and Lamborghini. However, would you buy a Mustang designed for off-roading? Let us know in the comments.
