The Hyundai Ioniq 6 beats the Tesla Model 3 in range and efficiency, with an EPA-rated 361 mile range. And in rear-wheel-drive form, it ties in with all-wheel-drive Lucid Air Pure for efficiency.
While GM has built a strong argument around large-format pocket cells as the core of its US Ultium EV push, it’s now suggested it’s fairly flexible with battery formats. What does this mean for GM’s three Ultium Cell plants, and the economies of scale GM claims it will deliver by keeping as much of one format as possible?
And Toyota recently announced a new CEO and green-lit its first dedicated EV platform. But that doesn’t signal a greater commitment to EVs, or concessions to environmentalists who criticize the strategy. In fact, in a recent presentation at Davos, the company doubled down on its strategy of not committing widely to EVs.
