Manila, Philippines, March 23 – Philippines Honda Car, Inc. (HCPI) joined Department of Science and Technology – Institute of Science Education (DOST-SEI) in an innovation competition for Filipino youth in High Schools. Program imake.wemake:create.innovate.collaborate foster creative and innovative thinking among students by enabling them to solve problems of their respective communities or achieve specific goals using critical thinking, experimentation, risk analysis, techniques and technical skills. This year’s contest raised the total 89 project proposals from public and private high schools across the Philippines, the largest number of proposals received since the program started 2017.
MOA signing between DOST-SEI, HCPI and fellow program partners C&E Publishing, Inc. And Gokongwei Brothers Foundation took place at Sequoia Hotel, Manila Bay, Paranaque on March 13 2023. On the same day, the finalists consisted of 20 the school team also started a 5-day Technical Training, Workshop, and Mentoring. Director of DOST-SEI Dr. Josette T. Biyo expressed its gratitude to partners who invest in young Filipino innovators. “I believe that through our partnership, more doors of opportunity will open, and more young people will become scientists and innovators – creating and collaborating for a better future.”
Especially, the imake. wemake innovation competitions empower schools and universities to build learner communities that also value resources and knowledge sharing, as well as a dynamic and collaborative approach to creating solutions. Through this partnership, three schools, which will be selected by a distinguished Jury, will each receive a Youth Innovation grant PhP200,000. This will happen after a build period of approx 90 days allocated to finalists to design, build, and complete their working prototype, including pilot deployment in their chosen community.
