Manila, Philippines, March 17 – Honda Philippines Automobile, Inc. (HCPI) continues efforts to contribute to better road safety, most recently through another round of interactive learning sessions for students, still in partnership with the international organization of student youth leaders, AIESEC in the Philippines (AIESEC). On March 11, 2023, there is 24 students from eight AIESEC member schools participating in the HCPI training program where classroom instruction on safe driving behavior is reinforced by guided experiential driving from Honda SENSE-equipped models such as the All-New BR-V, Civil And HR-V.
Inspired by Honda’s global target for zero deaths from traffic collisions in 2050, HCPI will organize education programs on road safety for its various stakeholders such as youth to strengthen their awareness and appreciation of road safety. Honda SENSING demonstration through experiential drive has proven effective in understanding how the application of technology protects the safety of drivers, passengers, pedestrians and other road users. Honda has strengthened its vehicles with the Honda SENSING suite of safety features to realize the dream of “Safety for Everyone”.
The learning sessions cover the right mindset in driving, facilitated by professional instructors from the Honda Safety Driving Center. Pre-vehicle inspections, traffic rules and regulations, and common misconceptions about driving are also discussed. During Honda SENSING’s actual driving practice, students are guided by HCPI technical experts and certified driving instructors. Participants were excited as they got hands-on experience with Honda’s advanced driver assistance systems using a vehicle equipped with Honda SENSING (below), such as civil, All new HR-Vand New BR-V CVT 1.5 VX.
Head of HCPI, Mr. Masahiko Nakamura expressed his appreciation to the students who became youth leaders in their respective colleges and universities. “I am happy to be with you who are very passionate about creating good changes for society. This program is designed to strengthen our awareness of how our own actions can help reduce traffic accidents, and how we can influence other road users to also improve their driving habits. When you apply what you learn, and share it in your school, with your active support, we can make more meaningful changes and impact more people.”
The participants together with the chairman Mr. Sajana Vithanawasam, also expressed his gratitude to Honda “AIESEC in the Philippines is honored to partner with Honda on this road safety program. We appreciate Honda’s efforts in sustainability and this initiative to help us become better road users.”
HCPI has been conducting road safety education campaigns for young people ever since 2004 through the program, Smart Teen. The aim then remains relevant today – to develop young people’s awareness of road safety and strengthen their sense of responsibility in reducing road accidents as pedestrians and future drivers. HCPI has worked with various partners from the government and civil society to reach more youth who are among the most vulnerable to traffic accidents. Even during the pandemic, HCPI continued this effort on line.
