Gordon Murray Automotive has released an open-top version of its T.33 supercar, the T.33 Spider. Only 100 examples will be built at a cost of approximately $2.2 million each.

The GMA T.33 is the second model in the UK-based supercar maker’s portfolio. The T.33 Spider looks as good as a coupe and features two removable roof panels.

The T.33 Spider is based on a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque. It also features carbon body panels to keep weight to a minimum.

However, don’t let the supercar’s clean exterior design fool you. The T.33 Spider’s Passive Boundary Layer Control (PBLC) system relies on underbody ducts combined with the rear diffuser to produce aero more efficiently than conventional ground effect supercars. It also gets an active rear spoiler and a carbon roof scoop.

Like the coupe, the Spider’s interior is simple but functional. It comes with a sporty steering wheel with a large single analogue tachometer in the center and carbon seats trimmed in Alcantara.

The heart of the T.33 Spider is a GMA 3.9-liter V12 engine developed by Cosworth. It developed 609 hp @ 10,250 rpm, with 90% of maximum torque (399 lb-ft) available from 4,500-10,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
