Ford launched an app that helps Bronco drivers better plan their off-road trips.
Announced this week at the 2023 Safari Bronco event in Utah, the Ford Bronco Trail App lets owners find a place to take their vehicle and really practice the Bronco’s off-road capabilities.
Available exclusively to Bronco owners, and designed for use with the FordPass app ecosystem, the Trail App includes about 1,200 “professionally curated” maps for off-road trails in the US, Canada, and Mexico, Ford said. The automaker added that more tracks will be added in future updates.
Trail maps, which add up to about 18,000 miles of trail, per Ford, can be filtered by length, difficulty and location. The app also has a description of each lane, points of interest, and a save function for the lanes the driver wants to revisit.

Map views include both satellite and 2D topography, and maps can be downloaded for offline use—an especially important feature considering that any off-road adventure is likely to throw drivers away from cellular reception. Users can also share tracks they find on the app with other Bronco owners.
Since some lines recommend lower or higher tire pressures, the app also includes a tire pressure gauge, which works without a mobile network or cloud connection. The video capture function includes overlays for speed, RPM, mileage, altitude and other readings. Videos are automatically saved to the user’s phone to be shared later. Ford recommends securing the smartphone before attempting to record video. Whether on the road or off road, holding the phone while driving is not a good idea.
The Bronco Trail app is free to use, and is currently available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
