An electric off-roader might be a better way to explore the great outdoors, but the GMC Hummer EV isn’t going lightly. The pickup version launching for the 2022 model year weighs just over 9,000 pounds, and the SUV likely won’t be much lighter.

With that in mind, the Hummer EV SUV will be the heaviest SUV ever, ahead of the original Ford Excursion and military-derived Hummer H1. After developing the Hummer EV in a short time, General Motors slowed down the launch of all planned variants. GM said a few months ago that the price increase would apply to the 2023 GMC Hummer EV, but has yet to ship any 3X versions starting the model year. Throughout the 2022 calendar year, GM reported delivering only 855 Hummer EV trucks, including those delivered in 2021.
Orders are for the SUV currently, with production slated to begin later this year at GM’s Factory Zero in Detroit.
