Ferrari deliveries hit a new peak of 13,221 cars in 2022—a year in which most brands in the exotic segment set records.

Despite the war in Ukraine, the energy and inflation crises, and supply disruptions, Ferrari managed to increase its 2022 deliveries by 2,066 cars, up 18.5% over 2021 results.

The number is based on shipping nine models, three of which are hybrids, the automaker said. The count also includes shipments of special low-volume models such as the Monza SP1 and SP2, and the Daytona SP3.

That’s not counting the delivery of the new Purosangue SUV, which has the potential to become the Prancing Horse’s most popular model due to its wider target audience. Purosangue starts deliveries in the third quarter of 2023 and it is very likely that Ferrari will set a new record.

Impressively, Ferrari is growing its revenue faster than deliveries, with its net revenue for 2022 reaching 5.095 billion euros (about $5.5 billion), up 19.3% from the previous year. It made a net profit of 939 million euros ($1.022 billion), which Ferrari also said was a record.

Ferrari said deliveries were up in all geographic areas. The biggest growth occurred in China where sales increased 72.6% from the previous year. The Americas also experienced strong growth with a 21.8% increase from the previous year.

There’s been little headwind for Ferrari, other than maybe a global recession. However, switching to an electric powertrain has also proved challenging, as the sound of the Ferrari engine is one of the most alluring aspects of the brand’s cars. Ferrari plans to launch its first EV in 2025, likely to be an SUV or some sort of grand tourer, and according to patent information, the automaker is investigating using an advanced sound generator for the near-silent model.

Before we get to see the Ferrari EV, the automaker will be coming out with a hardcore version of the SF90 Stradale. It’s also working on the LaFerrari special series model successor, the Rome convertible, and possibly the 812 successor.
