The cost of living crisis is causing motorists to consider switching to alternative cars or cutting daily expenses.
Research from carwow found that 40% said their approach to autos was impacted by the cost of living crisis.
Of those, more than a third (36%) said they were more likely to consider paying monthly for their next car than buying outright.
And 27% are considering selling or trading in their current car to save money while 24% said that, although they would normally consider buying a new car, currently they can only afford used cars.
Research reveals that cars are viewed as important, with over two-thirds (67%) stating that owning and operating a car is a necessary expense.
Of those who say the cost of living crisis is having an impact, 13% have reduced their daily expenses so they can afford to run their vehicle.
It also found that 22% of motorists who listed their car for sale through its platform did so specifically to cut costs.
Of these, more than half (55%) would like to downgrade to a less expensive model, while 45% have no plans to change vehicles.
