Dealers perform mandatory “above and beyond” inspections on used cars to ensure they receive the highest level of testing and inspection before they are sold.
That’s the conclusion of a WMS Opteven Dealer Panel survey, which found that four-fifths (80%) perform the same level of inspection, regardless of vehicle age and mileage.
The survey also revealed that nearly all (90%) dealers inspect and prepare as many vehicles as possible, to address all foreseeable problems, in an effort to help buyers feel confident.
Andrew Waite, director of retail sales and customer service at WMS Opteven, said: “Our research clearly shows that the majority of dealers consistently provide very high levels of testing when preparing vehicles for sale.
“This is especially important and encouraging, as reports recently surfaced showing car buyers do not believe that cars receive advertised checks before they are handed over to customers.
“With the cost of living continuing to increase, it is very important for consumers to feel that their investment is protected.
“When buying a used vehicle, it is natural for them to want to know that it has undergone rigorous testing levels and our report1 shows that our dealer network does just that, beyond what is required, to meet the needs of their customers.”
