Bosch announced that customers using Bosch charging services already have access to approximately 450,000 publicly accessible charging points in 30 European countries – one of the largest charging networks in Europe. Italian automaker Maserati has now made Bosch charging services available for the first time in its new electric model, the GranTurismo Folgore – not only in Europe but also in the Asia-Pacific region in 2023, says Bosch.
“Easy to recharge electric vehicles reduces range anxiety and is a prerequisite for their widespread acceptance. The Bosch charging service offers electric car drivers easy access to one of the largest and growing charging networks in Europe,” said Dr. Markus Heyn, member of the management board of Robert Bosch GmbH and chairman of the Mobility Solutions business sector.
Charging services have enormous potential, according to Bosch.
By 2030, Bosch predicts more than one in three new vehicles worldwide will be purely electric; in Europe, it can be as much as two out of three. By 2035, it is expected that one in two newly registered passenger cars worldwide will be electric. “We expect a huge burst of growth for our charging services business over this decade – because as electromobility increases, so does the need for easy and comprehensive charging solutions. We will benefit from this,” added Heyn. By the end of the decade, Bosch expects its charging solutions business to grow by more than 50 percent annually.
In addition to charging services for electric car drivers, Bosch also offers services for charging point operators. The Bosch software service allows charging point operators to remotely control and manage their charging points as well as integrate them into the Bosch charging network. By mid-2023, it is expected to cover around 700,000 charging points in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region, according to Bosch.
