The BMW Neue Klasse EV family debuting in 2025 will feature a panoramic head-up view.
BMW showed off the display, dubbed Panoramic Vision, Wednesday during its annual business conference. In what the company claims is an industry first, the screen will extend across the windshield and display information to the driver and front passenger, unlike the current head-up display, which only displays information in the driver’s field of view.
The automaker claims the panoramic display, which was previewed in the i Vision Dee concept shown at CES earlier this year, is part of a “driver-centric” approach in that it allows less important information to be displayed to the passenger than the driver. .

Neue Klasse (German for “new class”) EVs are named after the model family from the 1960s that effectively saved BMW and set the template for the next few decades of the automaker’s development. BMW hopes the electric Neue Klasse will be similarly transformative.
BMW says it will release six different Neue Klasse model variants in the first 24 months, all based on a dedicated EV architecture. This is a shift from BMW’s current strategy of relying mostly on a shared platform with the internal combustion model. Another big shift is the use of cylindrical battery cells and cell-to-pack technology. BMW believes this will allow for a 30% increase in range, as well as faster charging.
Neue Klasse EVs may not be as expensive as the current model market, in line with BMW CEO Oliver Zipse’s intention to make electric cars affordable. In a 2022 interview, Zipse said the low end market was too important to leave out in the shift to EVs.
BMW plans to start building Neue Klasse EVs at a new factory in Debrecen, Hungary, from 2025 and at the existing plant in Munich, Germany, from 2026. Some will also be built in Mexico, at BMW’s existing plant in San Luis Potosí , starting in 2027. That will increase with raw materials sourced within North America and potentially qualify for a $7,500 Clean Vehicle Credit.
