A German supercar collector, who goes by the name @gercollector on Instagram, is among them the first to take delivery of the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar. The journey started almost 6 years ago when Mercedes first came up with the idea to build a road legal hypercar with an F1 engine. However, his time with AMG One was short-lived, as you can probably guess from the image he just shared.
@gercollector’s Mercedes-AMG One hypercar appears to have caught fire. The car was completely destroyed, and by the time firefighters were able to put out the fire, it was destroyed beyond repair. We hope to find out more about the incident soon.
Chris Harris recently drove the AMG One on the racetrack. While he was generally pleased with the performance, his time with it did not go as smoothly as he had hoped. The first car he was driving ran into trouble after a few laps. Mercedes engineers did try to diagnose it but couldn’t come up with a solution. So, they gave him a replacement. Apart from the Start 2 mode being like a qualifying mode on a Formula 1 car, AMG One seems a bit unfinished.
The latest incident will put even more pressure on Mercedes to sort the product out. Given the fact that customers have been waiting over 6 years for this car, they are not going to be happy after reading the fire report.
