The 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will feature Fox Shocks and rear disc brakes.
An Instagram post posted Tuesday on Toyota’s official account shows Fox surprising him with a small remote reservoir and rear disc brakes, features still not offered on the current generation Tacoma, which continue with rear drum brakes.

Toyota first teased the TRD Pro trim earlier in April, following an initial tease of the redesigned 2024 Tacoma in March. This will mark the first true Tacoma redesign in ages, as some of the truck’s parts are more than a decade old. They will be replaced by components from the full-size Tundra, including a shortened version of the truck’s TNGA-F body-on-frame platform (which also powers the Land Cruiser LC300 not sold in the US) and, judging by leaked patent images, some sheet metal looks similar.
Teaser for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma
The returning TRD Pro model will be joined by a new Tacoma Trailhunter aimed at overlanding. Toyota announced the Trailhunter trim in November, stating it would proliferate across the automaker’s entire range of trucks and SUVs. The teaser showing off-road accessory company ARB’s special Trailhunter bumper reveals that the Tacoma will be the first Trailhunter model.

Toyota also previously confirmed that the 2024 Tacoma will get a hybrid powertrain option. The Base Tacomas are expected to have the 2.4-liter turbo-4 and 8-speed automatic from the Highlander crossover SUV, but are mounted longitudinally, not crosswise. The TRD Pro and other high-end trims will add one electric motor to the turbo-4 powertrain.
The redesigned Tacoma will serve as the basis for the new 4Runner SUV, which arrives sometime after the pickup. An electric Tacoma will eventually join the lineup as well.
