Porsche has recalled certain versions of the Panamera hatch and wagon due to the potential fire risk.
The recall affects the Panameras and Panamera Sport Turismos from the 2017-2021 model years, and in particular the Panamera, Panamera 4, Panamera GTS, Panamera Turbo and Panamera Turbo S classes.
There are possibly 24,467 affected instances in the US, according to a recall notice issued by the NHTSA on January 27.
The problem is caused by the external coolant pump for the vehicle’s climate control system. In some cases, moisture can get inside the pump and cause an electrical short, which in turn can cause a fire.
The solution requires the dealer to replace the coolant pump and inspect and replace the plug-in connection, if necessary. This service will be offered free of charge.
An owner notification letter is expected to be mailed out March 27, but anyone seeking more information can contact Porsche at 1-800-767-7243 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 (recall campaign number reference 23V033000).
